May, where have you gone?

Written by , Posted in INSPIRATION, MISC.

First, I must apologize that I’ve been MIA this month. This always seems to happen as the weather gets nicer and more events come up — my blog takes a back seat. May overall has been a whirlwind of a month with christenings, communions, Mother’s Day, celebrating engagements and birthdays and of course Memorial Day. I’m hoping that in the warmer summer months that are fast approaching that I will be able to update more frequently. These are a few of the things that I’ve been up to in the month of May.

Hair Inspiration: The Long Bob

Written by , Posted in BEAUTY

Today I’m calling to make a hair appointment for tomorrow because for the past couple of weeks I’ve been debating on what haircut to get {not to mention that I’m in desperate need for highlights}. My whole life my hair has been long and I’ve cut it short once or twice but never really was crazy about how they cut it. I’ve made my decision and I’ve decided to go with a long bob. It’s the best of both worlds – short enough that it will give my hair some body which it’s lacking, but long enough that I will be to style it the way I want. Today I’ve assembled some pictures of hair inspiration of the long bob that I will take to show my hairdresser. Hopefully it will give inspiration for those of you who have been indecisive like me to take a leap and try something different for the spring.

Wish me luck! I hope my hair comes out just as great as these pictures above.

Happy Tuesday!

A Simple Birthday

Written by , Posted in MISC.

birthdaymacaron

Today is my 31st birthday and I must say, that the first year of my 30s has been pretty fabulous. I’m keeping things simple this year as far as plans go, as this year my birthday does fall on Good Friday, so lunch with Eric and going to church are on the itinerary. The birthday celebrations will continue on Sunday with family as we also celebrate Easter. It’s funny that a part of me is not wanting to make a big to-do as far as celebrations go, but rather I take comfort in keeping it simple and celebrating with loved ones. That might come with the age or what not, but in this case, less is more. In my 30s, I’ve tried to put emphasis on envisioning the woman I want to become, to project positivity, and to constantly better myself. I also recognize that it’s important to maintain a balance in life and to realize that I’m a constant work in progress. I’m looking forward to what 31 will bring and hope to grow, evolve and to continue making the right choices that lead to my ultimate happiness.

Cheers! Here’s to many, many more birthdays!

Also, for those of you celebrating on Sunday, Happy Easter!

The Maxi Dress

Written by , Posted in FASHION

One piece that is a must for this spring and summer is the maxi dress. It is versatile and just such an easy outfit to put together. Throw on a cardigan or sweater to make it look more work appropriate or just leave it as it is with a cute clutch and a nice wedge sandal. For today’s post I’ve put together a chic yet comfortable outfit that is perfect for both the spring and summer months. Check it out..

The Maxi Dress

Mod Cloth Maxi Dress // Sam Edelman Wedges // Ray Ban Mirrored Aviators // Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. Clutch // Kendra Scott Danielle Earrings in Violet // Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose Parfume // Essie “Warm and Toasty Turtleneck” Nail Polish

I love this particular maxi dress because not only is it floral {no surprise there} but that it features so many soft hues of pinks and purples that you can play up to depending on your preference. As you can see, I played up both using different accessories such as playing up the pinks with the clutch and sunglasses, and playing up the purple hues with the earrings and nail polish.

Happy Tuesday!
